Each month our leaders select a person or couple from this church
family to receive a “Servant Towel.” This is especially important to us
because one of our goals here at College Avenue is to truly be a church
“of Christ” and Jesus left us the ultimate example of serving.
We have literally hundreds of people here who are active in our
ministries, but our Servant Towel presentation in January highlighted
the one ministry that was closest to the heart of Jesus. Jesus says in
John 4:34-35 “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish
his work. Do you not say, ‘Four months more and then the harvest?’ I
tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for
harvest.”
On January 18 we recognized two people whose eyes have consistently been
open to see the ost souls who need God’s grace, and whose home has been
opened again and again for evangelistic Bible studies. If it is true
that one soul is worth more than the whole world, then it logically
follows that there is no greater act of service than to lead someone to
Christ, and no greater satisfaction than to know that someone will be in
heaven because you had a part in sharing the gospel with them.
Solomon tells us in Proverbs 11:30 that “he that winneth souls is wise”
and thus I am glad we had the opportunity to recognize Jack and Pat Webb
for their passion for soulwinning and for their compassion for others
demonstrated by initiating and leading our Divorce Recovery classes. In
addition, Jack conducts our "SonSeekers" class on Sunday mornings and
preaches for us whenever he is called upon.
I especially appreciate their outstanding example of a positive,
encouraging attitude. Our church family has never had better
"cheerleaders" than Jack and Pat.
