We began "Kid's Camp" in 2004 to provide our younger children with a
"taste" of camp in a weekend format, and it was an immediate hit.
We have an excellent staff of caring, capable Christians, most of them
from here at College Avenue.
Kid's Camp is overseen by the board of Camp Kurios and is conducted
at the Beech Springs camp facility, just north of Smackover and twenty
miles from our church building. Beech Springs has been the home of
Camp Kurios for more than two decades and is an excellent facility: it
has a pool, lake, new lodge, spacious recreation areas, and... all
buildings are air conditioned!
And because Kid's Camp includes many first-time campers (it is for
children who have completed grades 1 though 4) we always recruit extra
staff so that the children receive ample care and supervision. Our
counselors and staff are also well experienced in handling homesickness,
bedwetting, and most importantly, anxious parents.
The young people who attend Kid's Camp get to experience a wide
variety of camping activities, including outdoor games, water slides,
campfires, treasure hunts, chapel, swimming, cabin devos, Bible classes,
and much, much more.
If you know any child who would like to go to camp, but is unable to
afford it, please tell Dan Williams, Kent Jobe, or Jason Baker and we
will see that they receive a scholarship. Thanks to the generosity
of many individuals in our congregation, we are committed to providing
scholarships for as many young people as possible, because we want every
child to experience the benefits of Christian camping!
